Accounting for neurodivergent business owners
Written-first accounting for autistic, ADHD and other neurodivergent business owners. Fixed fees, reminders before SARS dates. No diagnosis required.
This way of working is designed with autistic and other neurodivergent business owners in mind. You do not have to disclose a diagnosis to use it.
SARS letters, VAT deadlines and a pile of unfiled returns are already a lot. Surprise phone calls, vague emails and last-minute document requests make them worse.
Here is what you can expect from this practice.
What I commit to
- Written-first. Email or the contact form. I will not phone you without a time we have both agreed.
- Fixed fees, in writing, before work starts. No hourly mystery billing.
- Dates up front, reminders before they bite. The year’s SARS and CIPC dates at the start, then a reminder while there is still time.
- Catch-up without a lecture. If you are behind, I quote that work separately and we start. Messy records are a normal starting point.
- Ask once. In the first conversation I ask how you want to be contacted, how you want numbers shown, and whether we meet in writing, on a scheduled video call, or in person. I keep that. You should not have to explain it again.
- Plain language. One next action, not a wall of jargon.
You can still have coffee in Riebeek Kasteel if you want it. You do not have to.
Who this is for
- Autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexic or otherwise neurodivergent owners who run — or are registering — a business
- Owners who find unarranged calls, open-ended meetings and implied knowledge exhausting
- People who are behind on VAT, PAYE, provisional tax or CIPC and want a sequence
- Owners who prefer email and checklists even if they never use the word neurodivergent
You do not need a formal assessment letter. Adult diagnosis in South Africa is expensive and uneven. The process is the product.
This page is for your company or sole prop — books, VAT, PAYE, CIPC, provisional tax, SARS correspondence. If you also need help with the additional medical expenses tax credit (ITR-DD / Section 6B) for yourself or a dependant, mention it when you get in touch. That is a separate piece of work. I will tell you whether I can help.
How we start
- You choose the first conversation. Contact form, email, a scheduled video call, or coffee in Riebeek Kasteel. Bring whatever you have. A shoebox is fine.
- I tell you what I think you need, including anything you are paying for that you do not. This costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
- An engagement letter sets out the work, the fee, and what sits outside. Nothing starts until you have signed.
- If you are coming from another accountant, I write to them and take the handover off your hands.
After that, the monthly rhythm is documents however they suit you — photographed, emailed, or a shared folder — and I come to you when a decision is needed.
The full onboarding sequence is on How we work.
What I will not do
- Ask you to name a diagnosis on a form or in the first email
- Use “special needs” as a marketing line
- Spring a deadline on you that I have known about for months
- Treat lived experience as a substitute for an accurate return
I am a SARS-registered tax practitioner. The work is the same standard as for every other client. The difference is the operating rules.
What this covers
The same services as the rest of the practice: monthly bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, company and individual tax, CIPC, and SARS letters. See what we do.
Nationwide clients are welcome. The office is in Riebeek Kasteel.
Common questions
Do I have to tell you I am autistic or ADHD? No. Use the process. If telling me helps you, you can. If it does not, skip it.
Will you phone me? Not without a time we have both agreed. If you want a call, ask for one or book a scheduled video call.
I am years behind. Is that going to be a whole conversation? I will quote the catch-up separately so you can see the cost, and then we move on. It is more common than people think.
Do you only work with neurodivergent clients? No. This page exists so people who need this process can find it. The rest of the site is the same practice.
