Common questions

Should I register a company or trade as a sole proprietor? It depends on your liability exposure, your expected profit, and who you're contracting with. A company isn't automatically better and it costs more to maintain. We'll work through it with you before you spend money.

What is beneficial ownership and do I need to file it? It's a register of the natural people who ultimately own or control the company, which South African companies are now required to file with CIPC. Yes, it applies to you, and non-compliance carries real consequences.

My company was deregistered. Can I get it back? Usually yes, through a restoration application, provided the company was operating. The process takes time, so start it before it blocks something you need.
